Abstract

The restoration and conservation of Castle of Bologa (Sebesvár) in north-western Transylvania in 2018–2020 was preceded by preventive archaeological research. During the 2018 campaign, a total of 4,093 sherds were unearthed. Being at the boundary of archaeology and ethnography, study of 18th-century pottery in our region has long been neglected. Accordingly, the present paper attempts to establish a typology and chronology of 18th-century pottery in Sebesvár. Analysis of the archaeological material has revealed that the castle was likely abandoned in the first half of the 18th century.
