Abstract

In Hungary, the settlement history of the Barbaricum during the Roman Imperial Age, in the area beyond the Sarmatian settlement territory is little researched. Even less is the number of sites, where,– in addition to the traditional archaeological assessment, the animal bone-material has also been evaluated. This paper presents the archaeozoological results of two sites along the River Hernád, where small-scale excavations were conducted. The species and size distribution of the consumed animals at the analysed settlements,-provide significant information about the region’s animal-keeping habits.
