Abstract

A small-scale excavation was conducted at Garadna-Kastély zug in the Hernád Valley. The finds recovered from the trial trenches was bagged according to the excavated layers and levels. The best parallels to the pottery finds can be quoted from the Roman Age settlements in eastern Slovakia. Ceramic traits recalling late Iron Age traditions are lacking in this material, as are the wares of the workshops producing the stamped fine pottery of the Beregsurány type so typical on settlements in the Sajó Valley. The pottery finds and the Roman provincial imports suggest that settlement section investigated at Garadna was occupied from the close of the 2nd century to the middle third of the 4th century
