Klasszikus telephelyelméletek összefüggései Vas vármegyei települések mezőgazdasági vállalkozásainak gazdasági tevékenysége alapján
Abstract
Within geography, specifically social geography, the different sub-disciplines have used
different tools to study space in different periods. Geographical space should be studied
considering both social and economic contexts.
The question arises, however, whether classical location theories and models established
earlier can be applied to describe the spatial context of the 21st century: for example,
whether previous findings can be confirmed – or refuted – by empirical data.
In this paper, we look at classical location theories from the perspective of economic
geography and examine how they can be used on empirical data describing business
activities in the 21st century.
In the first half of the paper, we summarise, mainly based on the Hungarian and German
literature, the classical location theories models. In the second step, we describe the
empirical data: we collected data via a questionnaire from agricultural enterprises in Vas
County. The collected data indicates connections between settlements based on the
economic activity of the enterprises.
In the final part of the study, we analyze the relationship between the classical models of
location theory and the empirical data: We show how the classical models of location theory
hold when applied to agricultural enterprises in Vas County in the 2020s.
