TOWNS AND CENTRAL PLACES IN ALFÖLD
Abstract
This essay is based on the Database of Andras Kubinyi’s book published in 2000. The Medieval Hungarian city structure in the Alföld region featured many country-towns and few „real” (central) towns in its historical sense. These settlements, which looked like villages though functioned as towns, encompassed one of the nation’s biggest regions randomly.
The aim of my paper is the historical and geographical recording of the central city network in the Alföld region, which can be regarded underdeveloped as for its economy and society.
