THE CONNECTION BETWEEN SETTLEMENT DEVELOPMENT AND CASTLE TOURISM ON THE EXAMPLE OF HERTELENDY CASTLE HOTEL

Abstract

The castles have a great impact on the settlements as they have an image-forming role and their economic impact is outstanding for local society. Nowadays the castles give home for several products of heritage tourism, especially for the castle tourism. The emergence of tourism in a settlement can help its economical recovery effect to the settlement development. This kind of development can also be reflected in the improvement of the standard of living and this positive effect is also due to the tourism utilization of the castles. The purpose of the research is to support this hypothesis by examining the connection between the Hertelendy Castle Hotel and the village. Within this connection, the research shows that the utilization of the castle how affect the social, economic, infrastructural and natural environment. The methods used during the research were making interviews, field survey and processing of statistical data. Based on the KSH data and the interviewees' data my primary goal is to examine the effects of the castle utilization. According to the expected results of the research, the standard of living can be measured and probably it has a positive impact on the natural environment and the infrastructure network. The example of Kutas can prove that castle utilization can cause measurable benefits to the settlement development. In parallel with the results, the study suggests the examined mansion and the village to strengthen their relalionship and the results of the research can be utilized by settlements in a similar situation as well as in Kutas.
