Abstract

The study attempts to analyse the demographic, economic and social processes of the settlements under 200 inhabitants, based on current statistics. In our investigation we raised two main question. How the extreme small villages can be divided into main cluster groups based on economic and social indicators, and principal components? Furthermore are there any interrelationships between the economic and social factors and demographic trends of extreme small villages? We intend to answer these questions by mathematical statistical methods, for instance principal components, cluster analyses and linear regression modells.

According to our findings there are significant spatial differences in the performance of extreme small villages based on various economic and social factors. Moreover these economic and social features have not clear impact on the demographic trends which is also informing for the development policy.
