Abstract

The aim of this study is to locate and analyse the theoretical and practical work of recently deceased Zsolt Kocsis in the Hungarian geography. The study consists of three main segments. The first part analyses the relative proportion of functional and formal towns from the Austro-Hungarian Compromise until the end of the 2000s. The second chapter is divided in two different parts: the statements of the geographic discussion about the endless town designation wave evolved after the turn of the millennium will be aggregated, and the other part contains the inventory of the theoretical (publication) and practical (town designation programs) geographic work of Zsolt Kocsis. Zsolt Kocsis participated in the designation as towns of six Hungarian municipals: Csepreg (1995), Herend (1999), Zalalövő (2000), Répcelak (2001), Őriszentpéter (2005) and Vép (2009). In the third section of the study is the municipal policy of the government formed in 2010.
