THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HEALTH TOURISM DEVELOPMENT AND SOME URBAN DEVELOPMENT CONTEXT SPECIFIC EXAMPLE OF A SMALL TOWN

Abstract

The health tourism and the development of health tourism can get the decisive role in a socio-economic life of the settlement and the region, which can be traced back to multiplier effects of these developments.

Health tourism developments are substantial regional differentiation between settlements with medicanal factors as defined in the National Development of Health Tourism Strategy, as the possibilities of these spatial location of the existing natural resources, and last but not least, the EU funds can be affected.

Based on the fundamental questions of our research is, which have substantial settlements EU (health) tourism investment and which impact this may have on the development of settlements? Furthermore, any kind of relationship exists between the different sectoral investments (eg. Health, economic, tourism and urban development)?

Our research is purpose of EU funds for examination some impact of urban development (approx. 23 settlements). The study gives the interval EU development cycle 2007-2013. In the course of our research we performed a secondary analysis of data, one source of which is located in the Szechenyi 2020 website statistical databases (eg. Reporting, Active Stats, search Supported projects) as well as the basis for CSO database. The results of research interpreting were used social, demographic and economic indicators and were combined in the statistics database.

Based on our results, it can be observed between the towns of similar size and population differences, which was largely influenced by the location of settlements and environmental endowments. EU-source development from the settlements account for more than 50% of tourism development that can generate an increase in economic developments.
