Abstract

Nowadays the lives of the settlements are influenced by the social-economic factors, especially those places who are not in the central of the settlements – they are far from the downtowns like majeure. In this study I present the characteristics of the majeure’ roles and great territories through the example of Lengyeltóti. I analyse so the general human geography as the structure, history of settlement and the territorial structure, reasons and termination of it’s downtowns and outskirts. My hypothesis is that the majeure have a role in the supplies of the town, example in the education institutes. The main methods were the analysing of the documents, professional studies, military and social surveys, and making interviews with the local government. Demographic data present a negative trend, but there are more significant differences between these places. The public transport shows an individual solution to the local problems like using own vehicles to transport the living in outlying persons. More local companies’ operating are isolated, they have only some tasks in the life of the town as jobs and payments of taxes. I analyse the majeure called Pusztaszentgyörgy tobacco factory as a case study.
