PRESENTATION OF THE RESULTS OF A QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY PREPARED FOR THE GIS CLASSIFICATION OF THE INHABITED AREAS OF LARGE TOWNS IN HUNGARY
Abstract
I have already demonstrated such a survey in my book titled „GIS surveys in Pécs” during which I assumed the natural and social impacts on the development of Pécs by the Idrisi geoinformatics programme (Gyenizse P. 2009). However this research has not been terminated by the analysis of only one great city, but I started new data collection in other Hungarian cities. In the following I demonstrate the first results of this survey.
The basis of the objective scoring system was provided by a series of questionnaire surveys carried out in 2006, 2009 and 2011. The questionnaires provided the opinion of 1-2 per mil of the given towns’ population. It was carried out by the filling and later evaluation of 209 questionnaires in Debrecen, 168 in Miskolc, 162 in Pécs, 167 in Szeged, 265 in Győr, 260 in Nyíregyháza, 226 in Kecskemét and 203 in Székesfehérvár. During the questionnaire survey we estimated 26 – spatially well detectable with determined characteristic features – object groups’ importance of how the respondents feel about them. The set question was the following: “In what measure would the following factors determine your choice, insofar you would intend to move from your present residence?” During the evaluation of the questionnaires we collected how many points the certain type of object types achieved than we converted it to the percentage of the score that could be admissibly given.
According to the survey the ideal building to which an average citizen would move is a house made of brick with excellent conditions provided with tap water, sewage disposal and individual heating system. Around the house we find an own garden, its neighborhood is parked and preferably it is situated in a green area. In the nearby we find a grocery store, and even the hospital or the clinic is not so far. Its public transport relations are good, so in the nearby we find a bus, trolley-bus or tram stop, but all this is not coupled with the necessity of a busy public road or train. It is an important expectation that the house should be situated preferably in an “elite” healthy environment, in such a living space where the environment polluting and noisy industrial plants are remote and further on the neighbors also should be people living in a house with similarly perfect conditions and with a solid lifestyle.
We can also raise the question that taking into consideration all the surveyed factors how many percentage of the maximum points were given in the surveyed great cities of the countryside? The analyzed factors were evaluated the highest in Nyíregyháza, Győr and Székesfehérvár based on all the provided votes. People gave lower scores the most easily in Debrecen.
