Zalaegerszeg is the fourth settlement in the examination of the role of the extended arm of the central government in the naming of public areas. The documents on the implementation of II. József’s decree in the naming of the streets cannot be found in the case of Zalaegerszeg either. No traces of Germanization can be detected in the names of public areas. Most of the naming decisions demonstrate the strength of local ties. dictation of central authority, coerction, and an attitude to be followed cannot be raised.
