A fordítás egy újasszír koronázási rituálé szövegét teszi hozzáférhetővé, amely a király isteni legitimációjának, kultikus beiktatásának és a hatalomgyakorlás szakrális dimenziójának összefonódását tárja fel. A bevezetés kiemeli a szöveg liturgikus szerkezetét és a politikai teológia nyelvezetét: az uralkodó nem csupán világi vezetőként, hanem az istenek választottjaként lép trónra, szerepét isteni rendbe illesztve. A rituálé elemei – megtisztulás, öltöztetés, felkenés, eskü – az uralkodó testét és hangját szent jellé formálják. A bevezető tanulmány rámutat: e szöveg nemcsak történeti dokumentum, hanem a hatalom teatralitásának, a nyelv és rítus összműködésének is tanújele, mely megvilágítja, miként válik a politikai uralom liturgikus eseménnyé.
