This publication presents selected chapters from Book 6 of Pliny the Elder’s encyclopedic Natural History, focusing on the geography, peoples, and peculiarities of the Black Sea region. The accompanying introduction and annotations examine the particularities of Pliny’s worldview, the sources of his geographical knowledge, and the ethnic and natural representations shaped by the Roman perspective. The aim is to provide a faithful, annotated Hungarian translation of an ancient textual tradition concerning the Black Sea, highlighting its value in the context of classical Latin literature and cultural history.
