In 2023, Tamás Barcsi, Head of the Department of Philosophy of Law and Social Theory at the Faculty of Philosophy of Law and Social Theory of the University of Pécs, member of the Research Group on Values and Science of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, published his new monograph entitled Inhumanity in the Age of Compassion - A Philosophical Overview on Cruelty, jointly published by the HUN - REN Humanities Research Centre and Attraktor Publishing House. On 21 November 2024, the author was awarded the 2024 Prize of Merit for this work at the 2024 award ceremony of the Hungarian Philosophical Society on the occasion of the UNESCO World Philosophy Day at the Kossuth Club. The review presents this work, which is a valuable contribution to the field of humanities, and recommends it to colleagues.
