Friedrich Naumann lived at the turn of the last century, in the era of Wilhelminism. He started his career as an evangelical pastor, then pursued a political career, but his Christian spirit accompanied him throughout his life. Analysts of his work consider him a „political educator” who always tried to provide guidance to the participants of political life, including the German Social Democrats, starting from the real situation. His writings can therefore also be regarded as interesting contemporary documents, which increase our knowledge of the public life of contemporary Germany from a practical point of view. This study provides an overview of Naumann’s works that raise the problems of German socialism and examine the timeliness of the doctrines of Marxism.
