Abstract

The Rákóczi Museum, abranch of the Hungarian National Museum located in Sárospatak intended to build a new visitor centre and a showcase exhibition in the framework of the National Castle and Castle Programme. The construction of the new visitor centre in Szent Erzsébet Street covered an area of nearly 1300 m2, where archaeological excavations have been carried out in several phases since 2019. These have uncovered artefacts from several archaeological periods, from prehistory to the Early Modern period. This paper presents the preliminary results of these excavations.
