Abstract

In the building construction sector, the application of digital solutions and Building Information Management (BIM) has become an integral part of daily practice in recent years. For linear facilities, this development currently follows the trends observed in high rise construction; however, there is a distinct demand for the implementation of these technologies and methodologies in this sector as well, given that most infrastructure assets are extensive and complex engineering structures. This paper investigates the requirements of stakeholders involved in domestic transportation infrastructure development within a defined scope. It examines the current status of the sector and analyzes evolving legislative regulations in comparison with the prevailing state of the industry. Consistent with the BIM philosophy, the processes of design, construction, and operation cannot be analyzed in isolation; rather, they require holistic management. The objective of this study is to propose a solution based on identified needs and opportunities that support engineering processes across the entire lifecycle of linear facilities through the use of interoperable, collaborative software environments.
