Mission
Ciklus is an open access peer-reviewed journal of social and cultural theory published by Eötvös Loránd University using a double-blind peer review process. Ciklus is published twice a year in both online and print formats.
The mission of Ciklus is to provide a Hungarian-language platform for critical theories, to promote dialogue and debate among researchers publishing in the field, and thereby to contribute to the forming of scholarly and public discourse in the social sciences and humanities in Hungary. The journal publishes research articles, translations, reviews, and discussion papers in Hungarian in the broadly defined fields of critical social, cultural, and economic sciences, as well as philosophy, both as distinct publications and organised into thematic blocks. It welcomes manuscripts that
- deal with theoretical and empirical issues or review Hungarian or international scholarly works, including polemically;
- belong to the fields of political economy, social theory, empirical sociology, anthropology, political, economic and social philosophy, social and economic geography, development studies, political science, cultural studies, and social, mentality, and economic history;
and
- are connected to the traditions of critical theories, a broadly understood Marxism, world-systems and dependency analysis, feminism, and post- or decolonialism.
