Movement and Rhythm in the Literary Text

Abstract

When discussing the notion of rhythm, Emile Benveniste defines it as a manner of flow, an arrangement which is always subject to change. From the perspective of living organisms, on the other hand, rhythm becomes a fundamental concept because, in the history of the term, this change between the rapid and the slow was applied to the phenomenon of movement at a very early stage. This belonging together of movement and rhythm opens up the question how textual operations based on repetition are related to the automatism of movement.
