Abstract

The guest editorial presents menopause as a complex biopsychosocial life transition and provides an overview of the most important international and Hungarian research directions in the field. It highlights the close interplay between the biological, cognitive, psychological, and social processes associated with menopause, while emphasizing the substantial individual differences in women's experiences of the menopausal transition. The editorial outlines the aims of the special issue and introduces the main topics addressed by the included articles, covering the assessment of menopause, its cognitive and neurobiological characteristics, psychological aspects, cultural context, and clinical significance.
